Every stage starts from what the one before it settled, so the stages are bought in order, each after the last. Each comes with the same discussion and two revision passes as the complete edit.

The small print, plainly
- Your first read has to earn the rest.
- Go straight to the complete edit and your editorial letter still comes first. Read it, and if it doesn’t show you something you can act on, tell us within 14 days of buying and before you begin the next stage, and we refund it in full. Start with the $15 Editorial Review instead and the letter is simply yours to keep: you read it before you spend anything more. The same goes for a stage bought on its own: you have read the letter before you buy it, so it carries no refund of its own.
- What counts as a revision?
- After you discuss a stage’s notes and make your changes, a revision is another pass where Edith re-reads your new draft and updates her feedback. Every stage from Stage 2 on includes two, whether you bought the stage on its own or the complete edit. The Editorial Review is a single read, so it has none. If a stage isn’t settled after that, you can add another pass to it for $29, and only to the stage that needs it.

- No subscription. Your first 10,000 words are free, the Editorial Review is $15, and the complete edit is $249, with the $15 taken off if you paid it first.
